The Bloemfontein Children's choir is very proud of him! To show this and to acknowledge him as our Patron, the choir comitee paid him a special visit. To express our thanks they sang a most touching song: Irish Blessing. They also gave him a handmade card to congratulate him on this big achievement.

2014 tour to cape town & stellenbosch

During July 2014, the choir had a successful tour to Cape Town, Stellenbosch and Paarl and 49 of the choir members could take part in the tour. The choir received a standing ovation and performed with the Canticum Novum Choir conducted by Louis van der Watt, the Kensington Chorale, conducted by Lizl Gaffley, the Cape Town Youth Choir, Conducted by Leon Starker as well as the Paarl Boys High Ensemble, conducted by Stefan van Hassen. The choir concluded the year with a beautiful concert in the Odeion in September. During the visit to the beautiful Western Cape, the choir visited Table Mountain, travelled by train from Bellville to Simons Town and experienced the Cable Car at the V&A Waterfront. A visit to Kirstenbosch and walking on the 12m high, 130m long Tree Canopy Walkway or referred to as "The Boomslang" on a very cold rainy day, was a wonderful experience. The children also took a cruise on "The Jolly Roger", and for most this was a first on the big waters of the ocean!!

At the end of 2013, the choir had a very successful tour to Slovenia, Austria, Germany and Belgium where they received standing ovations at all performances. A highlight of the tour was a performance in the Dome Church in Salzburg where and audience of 6 000 people listened to the choir and stood up to give a standing ovation to the choir!!!

The Bloemfontein Children's Choir went on tour to Skouspel 2005. The event was in Sun City at the superbowl the superbowl is HUGE ! It can take about 6000 people and it was full at all four shows! We really enjoyed the valley of the waves and the lazy river. We stayed at a youth hostel and had loads of fun! We performed with famous South-African artists like Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Dozi, Christina Azavedo, Koos kombuis etc. I really Hope we get a chance to perform there again!

In 2006, the choir got an Invatation to go to the ABSA KKNK, a national arts festival in Oudtshoorn, South Africa. We had three performances each on a seperate day. We stayed in "Die Herberg" youth hostel. We had loads of shopping time and we all bought very interesting stuff at the hundreds of different stalls. We also watched two shows, Gatiepie en die vroue Spooke and André the hypnotist. We had much fun watching all those people get hypnotised! It was a real privilage to perform on one our countrie's own art festivals.
